The Creek in November ~

This is oil on linen, 36" x 42" ~ about half finished. (lots of twigs and ripples left to work on!) I've painted this one section of Pitman Creek, near my house, many times now. I never tire of the views there. Painting this made me think of my longtime friend Doug, who owns several of the paintings of the creek, and my Mom, who loved the grays and browns of November.

Lovely, lovely. Muted but not somber - I love the grays and brown too.

Your painting is beautiful. Wondering where "Pittman Creek" arrived from. I grew up in NC with a similar creek. Path lead through the woods behind my house to a narrower creek. No name.

I agree with Cathy. It's comforting. Masterful work. There's a powerful, intangible emotional quality here. (It touches a feeling I didn't quite realize I had, and can't quite name but it's familiar.) You seem to be evolving in great complexity and depth.

Thank you! In some ways I feel that new avenues (?) of emotion are emerging in the work now, things that I just didn't have the ability to connect before. So I'm happy about that!
