Anna's Doll ~ sound and images:

I didn't realize that I'd written this song on the anniversary of Anna's death - October 26th, 1901, until I assembled the images for this video. Anna, in the only known photograph of her, appears at the beginning.

I'm in tears.

It amazes me that I'm still finding surprises in the YACB material - such as Bessie's report card. I'd looked at it, but it didn't really sink in that it recorded her illness and approaching death as well, and how her mother must have felt signing it during that period. I need to go through all the photos and texts and resort to meet the new contexts I'm working with.

I'd like to make little videos like this for each one of the demo recordings ~ alas, if only I were a team!

Thanks! I'm no where near being able to sing this difficult little song, but I decided to go ahead and post my rough demo anyway. Forgive the uncertainties of pitch and delivery.

I'm going to ask Alan to photograph the dolls for me & I'll include them. There was a watercolor of the two, sitting in a sunlit corner of the old studio, done back in the 80s, that burned in a house.
